Hardness : We can easily compress sponge but an iron rod cannot be compressed. Materials that can be compressed are called soft materials like foam, melted wax. Materials which cannot get compressed are called hard materials like aluminium, copper etc.
Most metals, such as iron, copper and aluminium are hard and because of this quality of hardness, metas are used to make household utensils and factory equipments.
